Find courses to help you learn English

If you want to learn English as a Second Language (ESL), online and local programs can help.

You can find free and low-cost ESL classes to learn how to speak, read, and write English through these resources:

Learn English online

  • Use videos and online lessons to learn and practice English at USALearns.org.
  • Listen to ShareAmerica.gov for audio conversations that help you learn English.

Learn English in person

  • Find literacy and ESL programs near you for learning or improving your English.
  • If you have children, ask their school staff about ESL classes in their school district. In some communities, libraries offer English classes and materials to study. Find a library near you.
  • You may also visit the National Literacy Directory to find literacy (English reading and writing) programs for help in person.
